Wow, This Mum Gives Birth Twice In Same Year – On New Year’s Day And Christmas
A MUM gave birth to a baby on New Year’s Day and Christmas Day in the SAME year –and had her third a few days ago.
Laura Aitchinson, 26, from Cumbria, and her partner Lewis Killip, 47, welcomed son, Carlos, on January 1 2016 – and then a second son, Nicholas, on Christmas Day 2016.
Incredibly, the mum gave birth a third time only days before Christmas – to a baby girl, Lola Grace.
The 26-year-old mom said: “I’ve always loved Christmas but I’ve no idea how I manage to keep on giving birth over the festive season. It certainly wasn’t planned!”
Laura met her husband online six years ago and decided to start trying for a baby. But Laura suffered two ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs, one of which was baby twins.
“When I fell pregnant a third time, we were both understandably very anxious, in case it happened again.”, she says.
But the pregnancy went well, with the baby due on January 5 2016. Instead, little Carlos made an appearance five days early – on New Year’s Day.
Laura said: “I went into labour on New Year’s Eve and we could hear all the fireworks going off outside. It was very atmospheric.
“Carlos was born on New Year’s Day at 5am, weighing 7lbs 2ozs and he was perfect. After two ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs, he was extra-special.”
The couple settled down to parenthood and it was only in September that Laura noticed she was gaining weight and also had developed cravings.
She said: “I did a pregnancy test and we were stunned when I was pregnant again. Even more so – I was almost six months gone and the baby was due on New Year’s Day!
“I just couldn’t believe it. My body hadn’t settled down after having Carlos, so I just thought the extra weight and the irregular periods were a result of giving birth.
“I hadn’t for a minute thought I might be pregnant again.”
Laura went into labour at 10pm on Christmas Eve and Nicholas was born at 1am on Christmas Day.
She says: “We couldn’t believe it – a New Year’s Day baby and a Christmas Day baby, both in the same year.
“I was allowed home later that day, with Nicholas, and I was even well enough to cook Christmas dinner.”
Laura fell pregnant again earlier this year – and her baby daughter was born last week.
She said: “I really don’t know how we keep having babies at Christmas, but it’s lovely. Christmas is all about the birth of a new baby, so what better way to celebrate?”
