Dad Wakes Up To Find His 3 Daughters Passed Away In Same Accident That Left Him Paralyzed For Life
For 26-year-old father, Somchai Lurak, one moment, his family was complete, and the very next moment, his family was ripped apart after their three “angels” were taken away.
Somchai Lurak and his family were driving home after visiting his sister, Amanda Lurak-Moldenhauer. But things took a drastic turn when a drunk driver rammed into their car at a speed of 80mph, as reported by Mail Online. Strapped in the backseat of the car were Somchai’s three little girls, Aneena, 6, Kya, 5 and Drayka, 3.
When Somchai finally woke up in a hospital bed, he was paralyzed and suffered severe injuries. But the worst injury suffered by him and his entire family was knowing that his three daughters passed away. “His precious angels did not make it,” their GoFundMe page said.
His precious girls were all d.e.a.d.
Hours after the horrific accident, as Somchai Lurak’s sedation began wearing off, his older brother, Anthony Smock, broke the news to him that his precious girls were all d.e.a.d.
‘My bother is awake he has been told everything. He is devastated but is trying to keep his spirits up,’ Smock wrote in a Facebook message accompanying a photo of Lurak in his hospital bed with a brace around his neck.
Somchai’s fiancee, Emma Weigand, who was riding in the passenger seat survived with broken ribs and a broken arm. And although Somchai miraculously survived the accident along with her, the restaurant manager from Idaho is left devastated after losing his little girls.
The couple were set to marry next May, and Weigand planned to formally adopt Lurak’s three daughters soon after.
Emma and Somchai were ready to exchange wedding vows in 2020 and Emma were looking forward to legally adopting his three daughters. Not only had she filled the shoes of a mother for the girls, but Emma’s mother herself had loved them like they were her own grandchildren.
Weigand’s family members described Aneena, Kya and Drayka to KTVB as sassy and full of life. They loved music, art and being outdoors, and enjoyed having their nails done by their step-mom.
‘They were the sweetest girls ever,’ Jessica Jones, Weigan’s sister, told the station.
On Monday, Somchai Lurak’s sister, Amanda, posted an update on his condition on a GoFundMe page seeking donations.
‘My brother, in his words, is doing the best he can right now,’ the post read. ‘He is as of right now, classified as a Incomplete Quadriplegic, the accident affected his hands, his neck, back core muscles and everything from the waist down. He has full feeling just no movement in those areas.’
Amanda went on to explain that her brother would require a special wheelchair, a handicap-accessible van and renovations to his home. The family are trying to raise $100,000 to help Lurak with these expenses. As of Wednesday afternoon, a little over half that amount has been raised.
For the family, it’s heart-wrenching to know that one man’s careless actions has taken the little girls away in one of the most painful ways possible.
“To everyone everywhere, I’m begging you,” Anthony shared. “Never ever drink and drive – it’s selfish and stupid and can destroy people’s lives and families forever.”
