The Nun and the Department Store Mirror
Two young nuns, Sister Angelica and Sister Christina, were sent to a large department store in the city to buy some new fabric for the convent’s sewing room. It was their first time visiting such a massive, modern store, and they were fascinated by all the bright lights and displays.
While walking through the clothing section, Sister Angelica accidentally stepped in front of a giant, full-length, high-definition mirror that was surrounded by bright vanity lights. Because she had lived in the secluded convent since she was a teenager, she hadn’t seen her own reflection in years.
She stopped dead in her tracks, gasped, and stared at the woman in the mirror. She turned to Sister Christina and whispered excitedly, “Sister, look over there! That convent over there has the exact same habits as ours! And look, that nun looks just like my old childhood friend from school!”
Sister Christina walked over, looked into the mirror, blinked in total confusion, and then slapped her own forehead. She turned to Sister Angelica and said, “Oh, you silly goose! That’s not another nun from a different convent!”
Sister Angelica looked surprised, “It’s not? Then who is it?”
Sister Christina shook her head and replied, “That’s just a giant television screen, and they are showing a documentary about how old and wrinkly we are getting!”
