A brand-new teacher noticed that the kids at school kept teasing one boy, calling him “Mikey the Moron.”
During recess, the teacher finally asked,
“Why do you all call Mikey that?”
One boy grinned.
“Because he really is a moron! Watch this.”
He pulled out two coins: a large 50-cent coin and a smaller one-dollar coin.
“Mikey, pick one.”
Mikey looked at both coins carefully.
Then, just as everyone expected, he picked the 50-cent coin.
The kids burst out laughing.
Later, the teacher pulled Mikey aside.
“Mikey, can I give you some advice?”
“Sure.”
“You know that the 50-cent coin is bigger, but the one-dollar coin is worth more, right?”
Mikey nodded.
“Of course I know that.”
The teacher looked puzzled.
“Then why do you always choose the 50-cent coin?”
Mikey smiled.
“Because the moment I take the dollar…”
“…they’ll stop giving me coins to choose from!”
The teacher stared at him.
Then he smiled.
“Well, Mikey…”
“Apparently, the only moron here is the person who keeps giving you free money.”
