The Modern Hearing Aid
An 80-year-old grandfather went to see his doctor for a follow-up exam after using a brand-new, top-of-the-line hearing aid bought by his grandchildren. The device was incredibly modern, tiny, and completely hidden inside his ear so nobody could see it.
The doctor smiled after the check-up and said excitedly, “This is fantastic, sir! Your hearing is officially at 100%, just like a young man. Your family must be absolutely thrilled that you can converse normally with them again, right?”
The grandfather shook his head, flashed a very mysterious smile, and said, “Oh, I haven’t told anyone in the house that I can hear clearly again.”
The doctor asked in surprise, “Why on earth not, sir? Sharing the news would bring them so much joy!”
The grandfather calmly took a sip of water and replied, “I just pretend I still can’t hear a thing and sit quietly in the corner of the room. Because of that, over the past month, I’ve managed to eavesdrop on all of their private conversations… And you know what? I’ve already changed my inheritance will three times!”
