Two buddies spent an entire day fishing but failed to catch a single thing. Just as they were about to give up, another fisherman walked past them carrying a massive, heavy haul of fish.
Incredible envious, they asked, “Hey pal, where on earth did you catch all of those?”
The fisherman replied, “Just hike further up this stream. Once you get far enough inland that the water isn’t salty anymore, you’ll find a ton of hungry fish.”
The two friends thanked him eagerly. They immediately scooped up a full bucket of water from the stream and began their trek inland.
After fifteen minutes of walking, the first fisherman stopped. “Take a sip from the bucket and check if the water is still salty.”
The second guy took a gulp. “Yep. Still salty.”
Half an hour later, they stopped again. “Check it now.”
The buddy took another big swig. “Nope, still salty as ever.”
After two grueling hours of hiking under the hot sun, the first fisherman finally threw his hands up in frustration. “This is absolute garbage! We have been walking for miles and the water hasn’t changed one bit!”
“I know,” his buddy groaned, wiping his brow. “And what’s worse, our bucket is almost empty!”
