The Doctor’s Secret to Longevity
An elderly couple went to the hospital for their annual medical check-up. The doctor called the 85-year-old husband into his office first to review his test results.
The doctor looked at the charts, smiled, and said, “Well, Arthur, I have to tell you, your test results are absolutely incredible. Your heart is strong, your blood pressure is perfect, and you have the stamina of a 30-year-old man. Tell me, what is your secret to such amazing health at your age?”
Arthur smiled proudly, leaned in, and said, “Well, doc, it’s all because of my spiritual connection with the Almighty. You see, whenever I have to get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, God Himself turns the bathroom light on for me. And when I’m finished, He gently turns the light off so I can go back to sleep. I know He is watching over my health!”
The doctor was amazed by his faith but a bit puzzled. He finished the appointment and then called Arthur’s wife, Beatrice, into the office for her turn.
The doctor said, “Beatrice, your husband is in perfect health. But he told me something very interesting. He claims that God turns the bathroom light on and off for him whenever he gets up at night. Is that true?”
Beatrice’s face instantly dropped. She slapped her hand over her eyes, shook her head, and groaned, “Oh, for heaven’s sake! Don’t tell me that old fool has been peeing in the refrigerator again!”
