See Mom’s Suprised Over Baby Boy — Breaking a 50-year-old Trend in Her Family

Dana Crouch of Columbus, Georgia works as a labor and delivery nurse and was extremely excited to find out one day that she herself was pregnant and expecting a second child.

Dara Crouch, a labour and delivery nurse, thought she pretty much knew what to expect when it came to her own pregnancy and delivery.

However, her rather shocked reaction the moment she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy definitely proved otherwise.

“I just knew I was having a girl,” she said.

Crouch, already mother to three-year-old daughter Neyland, had decided to leave the sex of her newborn as a surprise. She decided not to find out what the baby’s gender was before birth. Since she believed in the family tradition of only giving birth to girls, she just assumed they were having a girl. After all, no one on the mother’s side of the family had given birth to a child in over 50 years.

So after four hours in labour, when she met her newborn son, Liam, now seven weeks old, she felt “shocked more than anything”.

Family friend Neely Ker-Fox was present when Dana delivered her baby and also took a series of photographs, which resulted in this incredible view of Dana’s face.

Neely, who has a lot of experience working as a birth photographer, said she had seen surprises, but Dana by far the most genuine reaction and called Dana’s reaction “sweet” and “motherly”.

“Five minutes before pushing started, the couple went back to thinking about the possibility of a boy,” said Ker-Fox, who noticed a “sweet, maternal apprehension” in Crouch.

Moments later, at 1:31 p.m., the midwife announced it was a boy. Ker-Fox recalled Crouch gushing with excitement, “Oh my God! It’s a boy; I can’t believe it’s a boy!”

The photos began gaining traction on social media earlier this month when Birth Without Fear shared them on Facebook and Instagram.

The loving family are currently doing a fantastic job and little Liam is settling in really well.
