Proud Dad Moment: His Kind Sons Asked Him To Stop Car So They Could Help Man In Wheelchair Shovel His Sidewalk
One of the greatest moments of being a parent is when we get to see how kind and pure our children’s hearts truly are.
This proud scene was witnessed by Daniel Medina and his two young sons, Daniel Jr. and Dominic, on a particularly cold evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2016. The father and his sons were walking home when Daniel passed a man who, despite being wheelchair bound, was shoveling snow off his property.
The boys, ages 6 and 10 at the time, immediately told their father to stop the car as soon as they noticed the man.
“Proud dad moment,” Daniel wrote. “we’re driving down s60th st near Morgan and my two sons aged 10 and 6 asked me to pull over because they just saw a guy in a wheelchair trying to shovel his corner lot and they wanted to help.”
Once the car stopped, the boys got out. The boys spoke briefly with the man and then began shoveling the sidewalk and driveway for him. The man would not have to struggle alone in the snow that day.
Never had Daniel been so proud of his boys. He knew how rare it was to see two people of any age willing to brave such weather conditions for the sake of another person.
Daniel shared what happened next on the internet for all to enjoy.
‘Proud dad moment,’ Medina wrote in the Facebook post, which has been shared 2,100 times and garnered more than 6,000 likes as of Thursday morning.
The response online has been overwhelmingly positive.
‘Those are wonderful boys you have there, I’m sure you know that and are very proud of them,as you should be ! It really does my heart good to see young kids doing really nice things! Thank you for posting!’ wrote one user.
‘Well Sir I have to say “they’re not my children but I to am proud of them”‘ You have done well instilling common decency values in them. Thank You for your parenting skills!!’ said another.
‘He was grateful,’ Medina said of the man they helped. ‘He kept telling us thanks and kind of supervised us, made sure we dug out the bus stop in the corner, and also his car because he had a doctor’s appointment the next day,’ he told Today.
