Prince Louis celebrates his seventh birthday today, and he expects the day to be filled with joy, gifts, and quality time with his loved ones.
As the youngest child of Prince William and Princess Kate, Louis is likely to be spoiled with plenty of presents and birthday cheer. A special birthday cake will almost certainly be part of the festivities. While sweet treats like chocolate and cake are typically a favorite for children his age, Louis also has a few more unique tastes when it comes to food.
One of the young royal’s most unexpected favorites is beetroot—a preference revealed by his mother, Princess Kate, during a 2019 conversation with legendary baker Mary Berry.
At the time, Kate spoke about how the family enjoys growing their vegetables, proudly listing carrots, beans, and beetroot among their homegrown produce. “Beetroot’s a massive favourite, Louis loves beetroot,” she shared.
Although beetroot may not make it onto today’s birthday menu, it highlights Louis’s surprisingly adventurous palate for a child his age.
However, like most children, he’s also a fan of classic comfort foods.
Kate previously mentioned that her children, including Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9, enjoy making and eating pizza.
In fact, she fondly recalled a family cooking session using Mary Berry’s pizza dough recipe. “One of the last things we cooked together was your pizza dough,” Kate told Mary. “We made pizzas… They absolutely loved it.”
As for how Prince Louis will spend his big day, details remain private, but it’s likely to involve time with close family.
Whether it’s a small party at home or a quiet celebration behind palace doors, Louis is sure to be surrounded by love from his parents and siblings.
He can also expect to receive thoughtful gifts from extended family members, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, who are known to dote on their grandchildren. It promises to be a memorable and happy birthday for the young prince.
