Mom Gives Birth to Very Big ‘Bundle of Joy’: A Baby Girl Weighing-In at an Incredible 14.5 Pounds

The arrival of a new baby is an exhilarating occasion for any family. But, in 2019, an Australian baby girl created a lot of buzz after making a very “big” entrance. The newborn weighed in at 14.5 pounds! The Mirror reports, Emma Millar gave birth to little Remi Frances Millar in October at Wollongong Hospital located on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia. Both Emma and her husband, Daniel, were expecting their daughter to be a bit bigger than usual after her 35-week ultrasound showed that their little girl already weighed about 9 pounds. That’s heavier than your average full-term newborn who weighs-in at 7.27 pounds.

However, because the mom has gestational diabetes, she and her husband were informed that their child would probably be larger than most. And when Remi’s two-year-old sister Willow came into the world, she weighed in at just over 12 pounds. Because baby Remi came two weeks before her due date, her weight was still quite a shock. On average, only around one percent of newborns weigh-in more than 9.2 pounds. However, otherwise, Remi is a perfectly happy and healthy little girl who her mom describes as resembling a “mini-sumo wrestler.

The little girl is also being showered with love by her older sister and brother.

Emma notes that Remi gained quite a bit of attention while she was still in the hospital’s nursery and when she walked around with her due to the fact she was so much bigger than the other newborns in the ward.
