Kate Middleton’s flirty comment about Prince William during recent appearance caught by lip-reader

Since their relationship first became public in 2003, the Prince and Princess of Wales have maintained a notably private and understated dynamic, especially when it comes to public displays of affection.

In fact, you could probably count on one hand the number of times they’ve kissed in public. And when it comes to speaking openly about their feelings for one another in interviews, both Kate and William have consistently kept things close to the vest.

So naturally, fans were a bit taken aback this week when a lip-reader claimed to have caught a rare affectionate moment between the royal couple during a recent public appearance.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, accompanied by their three children—Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (10), and Prince Louis (7)—attended events in London on May 8th to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, commemorating the end of World War II in Europe and honoring the lives lost during the conflict.

Earlier that day, the family joined a church service, just three days after standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with King Charles III and Queen Camilla to watch the annual VE Day parade.

Much has already been said about their public appearance on Monday, with young Prince Louis once again grabbing attention for his cheeky behavior—a hallmark of his growing reputation in the royal spotlight.

But another moment, a drawing buzz came from Kate herself.

Breaking from her usual composed presence, she was reportedly seen making a sweet remark to Charlotte about her husband.

According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, who spoke to The Sun, Kate leaned toward Charlotte and said, “Doesn’t Papa look smart today?” referring to William, who was dressed in his military uniform.

Cue the collective gasp—Kate, gushing in public? I mean, someone tell her to rein it in!

Meanwhile, Louis delivered his usual mix of charm and comedy. At one point, seemingly bored by the formality of the occasion, the young prince reportedly turned to his father and commented on the dreary weather.

As Hickling explained, William tried to keep him engaged by saying, “Look at this—I think it’s going to be quite wet today.” Louis, unimpressed, allegedly shot back, “Wasn’t this supposed to be fun?”

William, ever the composed dad, responded with, “It’s not going to be long, and I want you to be taking an interest.” But Louis wasn’t done entertaining. He was later seen poking fun at his older brother, George, in a moment that was caught on camera and quickly made the rounds online.

According to footage shared by Sky News, George was seen brushing his hair out of his face, prompting Louis to mimic the gesture in an exaggerated, theatrical fashion.

Social media lit up with reactions:

“Prince Louis copying his brother Prince George is so funny,” one royal watcher wrote.

“I cannot with Prince Louis. Look at him mimicking George and adding flair. He is the moment,” joked another.

A third simply declared: “That child IS EXTRA.”
