Single parents are really great heroes. Raising a child in a two-parent family is difficult, let alone a single-parent family. A young girl described how her father overcame the loss of his wife and moved on.
“When my parents first met, they didn’t get along.
I know they haven’t liked each other since I was born. When I was 10, my mom packed up and left while my dad was at work. Not only did she leave, but she also took all the household furniture, clothes, dishes and electronics with her. I remember the day he walked out the door. Don’t even stare. I tried not to give her up, but to hold her. I asked you to join me. You left me at home crying.
I called my father and told him about the situation. He told me to lock the door and windows because he couldn’t go home right away. I was still moaning when I decided to make my dad a sandwich, just like he did when he realized I wasn’t in my water.
My mother took almost everything from home, so I didn’t have much to eat, but I managed to bury everything. Because my mother brought the dishes, I wrote it on a piece of paper. After he finished, I sat there for about four hours staring at him.
When my father first entered the house, he was amazed at how far he got out. I ran over to her with the bun in hand and handed it to her. She told him it was built especially for him. Dad took it and shared it with me.
I pretended to look away because I could see she refused to cry. My father still talks about that day five years later. He says my gesture saved his life on the worst day of his life. He claims I regularly saved his life.”
