A father decided it was time to take his young son on his very first hunting trip.
Before heading off, he gave him one simple instruction.
“Stay right here… and no matter what happens, be absolutely QUIET. I’ll be hunting across the field.”
The boy nodded confidently.
A couple of hours later…
A deafening scream echoed through the woods.
The father dropped everything and sprinted back.
When he found his son, he gasped,
“What on earth happened? I told you to stay quiet!”
The boy took a deep breath and said,
“Dad… I was quiet!”
“I didn’t make a sound when a snake slithered across my boots.”
“I stayed perfectly still when a huge bear came up behind me and breathed on my neck.”
“I didn’t flinch when a skunk climbed over my shoulder.”
“I kept my mouth shut when a wasp stung me.”
“I didn’t even cough after I accidentally swallowed a gnat.”
“And I never complained when the poison oak started itching like crazy.”
The father looked impressed.
“Then why did you scream?”
The boy swallowed hard and replied,
“Because two squirrels crawled up my pant legs…”
He paused dramatically.
“…and I heard one of them whisper…”
‘Should we eat them here… or take them home?’
“…That’s when I panicked!” 😂
