You may have soft, gorgeous feet thanks to an easy toothpaste-based treatment for cracked heels, which can be both painful and embarrassing. Toothpaste is an excellent way to exfoliate, hydrate, and mend broken skin when paired with a few other common home items.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 1 tablespoon toothpaste (white, non-gel variety)
- 1 tablespoon baking soda (optional, for extra exfoliation)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, olive oil, or petroleum jelly (for deep moisturization)
- Warm water (for soaking)
- A pumice stone or foot file
How to Apply This Treatment
Step 1: Soak your feet.
- Pour some warm water into a basin and season with salt.
- To soften the skin, soak your feet for ten to fifteen minutes.
Step 2: Scrub
- To gently remove dead skin from your heels, use a foot file or pumice stone.
- Use a towel to pat dry your feet.
Step 3: Apply the Toothpaste Mixture
- To make a paste, combine the toothpaste, oil, and baking soda (if using) in a small bowl.
- On the parts of your heels that are cracked, liberally apply the mixture.
- Spend two to three minutes massaging it into your skin.
Step 4: Leave It On
- To keep the moisture in, cover your feet with socks or wrap them in plastic wrap.
- For optimal effects, leave it on for at least half an hour or overnight.
Step 5: Rinse and Moisturize
- Use warm water to wash your feet, then gently pat them dry.
- Use a foot cream or a heavy moisturizer to keep the skin moistened.
