3 household chores that you probably never thought had spiritual benefits
1. Yard Work
God doesn’t limit our access to Him by what we’re doing. He is always there. The prayer room is anywhere you go. It’s a great use of your time to pray while you mow the lawn or do your weed eating or whatever else you have to do outside. Think about keeping the Garden as Adam was commanded to do. We are tending God’s very own creation so ponder that the next time you have to work outside.
2. House Work
To see the spiritual benefit of anything, you have to be looking for it and again, it’s important for us to thank God that we even have a house…many don’t. We should remember Job’s words, “The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21). Sadly, most of us don’t realize how much we’ve been blessed until we lose something….or someone! Being thankful to God is being content in Him. That tells Him you’re satisfied and it’s true that contentment with godliness is great gain (1st Tim 6:6).
3. Laundry Work
When I wasn’t married, I used to do laundry and when I did the whites, I was reminded of a Bible verse where it says that the bride of Christ is ready for her marriage to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ (Rev 19:7), but first the bride of Christ, the church, needed a new wardrobe, so “it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure” (Rev 19:8) and Isaiah the Prophet wrote, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Isaiah 1:18).Laundry Work
