Bride Left Furious After Mother-In-Law Arrives At The Wedding In A WHITE Gown
Dressed in a beautiful floor-length white gown, the bride is always the center of attention at the wedding. The color white is restricted to them on that special day. No bride would want their thunder to be stolen by anybody, least of all her own mother-in-law.
When Jimmy Fallon asked his more than 51 million Twitter followers to share their #WeddingFail stories, Amy Pennza’s tale stood out — just like Pennza’s mother-in-law did on her big day.
“My mother-in-law wore a wedding dress to my wedding,” Pennza wrote. “So, yeah, top that one, Twitter.” For proof, the Ohio-based novelist included a photo of herself and the groom’s mom dressed in floor-length white gowns.
Amy’s tweet blew up on Twitter after U.S TV host Jimmy Fallon asked his 51 million-strong followers to share their wedding fails.
The story of wedding day twinning tickled many but Amy explained that there was more than meets the eye, in that the mother-in-law (MIL) wasn’t malicious, just extremely frugal.
Pennza followed up her tweet with a thread explaining that there was no violent altercation between her and her mother-in-law and the wedding carried on as scheduled. She explained that Terri Pennza, her mother-in-law, had no ill intent and is actually an all around wonderful person who was just on the hunt for a bargain dress.
When you grow up with nothing, it stays with you,’ said Amy. ‘Forever, I think. No matter how much money you earn, there’s always that little fear in the back of your mind that someone might take it all away.’
Amy said her MIL had grown up in poverty and was used to buying things only when they were on offer so when she saw the white dress, she didn’t say anything.
But still, it was her wedding day and Amy was still pretty shocked.
Though Pennza ultimately took the situation in stride, her sister and college roommate had concerns about what might go down.
Pennza says she understands why people are still confused, despite her explanation, on why Terri decided to show up in a wedding dress, but to this day they still don’t know exactly what she was thinking.
Although she and Terri have a great relationship, Pennza shared that her mother-in-law recently messaged her after the tweet went viral to apologize again.
“It’s become a part of the narrative of her life and just stuff she does,” Pennza said. “I genuinely want people to know that she’s a fabulous lady.”
And yes, Pennza is still married to her husband, Rich. The two have been together for 15 years.
