Donald Trump’s estranged niece has shared her viewpoint on why the president ordered strikes on Iran, issuing a harsh message following the weekend’s attacks.
Concerns over the global consequences of Trump’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites have been growing, which eventually led to Iran retaliating by targeting U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq on Monday (June 23).
Trump suggested a ceasefire between all parties involved, but soon accused both Iran and Israel of violating it just hours after it was put into effect.
In recent months, some of Trump’s fiercest critics have mocked him with the term “TACO: Trump Always Chickens Out,” especially after he backed down on tariffs imposed on certain countries.
Mary Trump, who has long criticized her uncle, believes he is still “stinging” from that nickname.
She wrote on Substack: “As a nation, we are at war, and the man who led us into this war is a corrupt, degraded, ignorant individual who acted unlawfully to drag us into a potentially disastrous situation without Congress’s approval because, despite being the president of the United States and arguably the most recognizable person on earth, he wasn’t getting enough attention.
“Though depraved and cruel, much like his ally (Israel Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu, he is driven by the most basic impulses, focused almost entirely on protecting his fragile ego from humiliation (which he fears pathologically) and himself from facing the fact that he is a complete fraud.”
Mary concluded: “Donald is no doubt still hurting from the acronym recently coined to mock his failure to follow through on anything – TACO: Trump Always Chickens Out.”
Meanwhile, Trump lashed out at both Iran and Israel during a brief press interaction on Tuesday (June 24).
He said: “As soon as we agreed to the deal, Israel came out and dropped a barrage of bombs like I have never seen before — the biggest strike we’ve seen.
“I’m not happy with Israel; when I say you have 12 hours, you don’t go in the first hour and drop everything you have on them.
“So I’m unhappy with them, I’m unhappy with Iran too, but I’m really unhappy if Israel is going out this morning.”
Visibly angry, Trump then criticized: “We basically have two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t even know what the f*** they are doing, do you understand that?”
