Take a regular Gillette razor and fix all the remote controls.

If you have a remote control that has stopped working properly, don’t rush to throw it away or buy a new one.

There are surprising homemade solutions that can bring it back to life without having to spend money on expensive repairs.

Why does a remote control break?

Remote controls can stop working for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Accumulation of dirt and dust on the buttons and inside the device.
  • Corrosion of contacts due to leaks from old batteries.
  • Button wear after prolonged use.
  • Problems with infrared sensors , preventing correct signal transmission.
  • Discharged or poor quality batteries reduce control efficiency.

If the Gillette razor trick doesn’t fix the problem, there’s another home method you can try: cleaning the remote’s internal contacts .

Materials needed:

This method is effective when dirt and dust affect the response of the buttons:

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • A cotton swab or soft cloth
  • A small screwdriver (to open the remote if necessary)

Procedure:

1. Remove the batteries from the remote control to avoid short circuits.

2. Disassemble the remote with a screwdriver if possible, or simply open the button cover.

3. Clean the contacts and buttons with a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

4. Dry completely before reassembling the controller.

5. Put the batteries in and test if the remote works better.
